ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A St. Louis-area barbecue restaurant that announced on social media Monday that it will close one of its locations permanently is now saying the closure is only for the winter.
Smokee Mo’s, a concept from Frank Imo that plays off the name of the family behind Imo’s Pizza, announced Monday the closure of its west St. Louis County location effective immediately. The restaurant chain’s original location in Arnold would remain open, according to the posting.
“Hello folks, it is a sad day for the Smokee Mo’s family,” the restaurant posted on its Facebook page, with attribution to a general manager. “I regret to inform you that the Smokee Mo’s Manchester location is closed as of today and we will not be returning to open our doors. This will be the last post for this page.”
The restaurant, however, later deleted the post and its website at www.smokeemosstlouisbbq.com has been updated to say the location at 110 Old Meramec Station Road in Manchester will be closed from Sept. 15 through May 15.
