CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — It’s “very possible” that the Cheesecake Factory location in Chesterfield could be making a comeback despite the location’s pending closure, a developer said after news that its location there will close in August.
The restaurant’s location at Chesterfield Mall will permanently shut down Aug. 31 for most of it to be torn down for a pending $2 billion redevelopment on the mall site. In anticipation of that closure, the Cheesecake Factory located there, one of the restaurant chain’s two locations in St. Louis, submitted notice to the state that it would be shutting down and laying off employees. The mall is located at the intersection of Interstate 64 and Clarkson Road.
The closure is a side effect of the long-pending Downtown Chesterfield redevelopment, said Tim Lowe, vice president of leasing and development for The Staenberg Group, the Overland-based developer behind the project and that owns the mall property.
