Pat and Carol Schuchard this fall plan to open their newest event venue in the Immaculate Conception Church and Rectory, a former Catholic church.

ST. LOUIS — Pat and Carol Schuchard, the husband-and-wife duo behind historic event venues including Boo Cat Club, Das Bevo and Majorette, are adding to their holdings.

The couple this fall plans to open their newest venue, in the Immaculate Conception Church and Rectory, a former Catholic church and adjacent rectory at 3120 Lafayette Ave. in the city’s The Gate District neighborhood.

The 12,000-square-foot venue, to be called Johnny Angel, will feature a restaurant and bar concept, art galleries, fireplaces and ample living room-style seating, they said. The space will be able to host both wedding ceremonies and receptions, in addition to various other events.

“There won’t be a place like it in town,” Pat Schuchard said.

The Schuchards purchased the property in late 2022 from the Compton Heights Concert Band for about $1 million, they said. City records show that the property is owned by 3120 Lafayette LLC, an entity related to the Schuchards, and was last sold for $875,000 in December 2022.
