The redevelopment of SLU's 14 acres has been branded Iron Hill, named for St. Louis’ history in the steel industry and the plateau the development will sit atop, according to developer Cullinan Properties.

ST. LOUIS — Cullinan Properties has revealed more renderings and the name of its 14-acre redevelopment between Saint Louis University's north and south campuses.

Now called Iron Hill, the development's name pays homage to St. Louis' history in the steel industry and the plateau the development will sit atop, Cullinan said.

"The immediate area once was home to steel production companies and other industrial facilities," the company said in an email. "The development site is located at the high point of Midtown and Prospect Yards redevelopment district, and the name ‘Iron Hill’ conveys the strength and prominence the mixed-use development will have within the city of St. Louis. As Iron Hill takes shape, architectural details celebrating the area’s industrial heritage will be incorporated into the building designs and overall character of the development."

The developer is planning a mixed-use development with office, retail, a hotel and restaurant space. Construction is expected to start in 2020.
