National coffee chain eyes location in St. Louis

The coffee shop would be the chain's first location in the city of St. Louis.

ST. LOUIS — A South Kingshighway Boulevard site could become a location of a popular coffee chain under plans up for zoning approval in the city of St. Louis.

Dunkin’, the chain formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts, is seeking zoning approval to construct a new coffee shop with a drive-thru at 4400 S. Kingshighway, according to documents from the St. Louis Board of Adjustment, which will consider granting a conditional use permit to the project Jan. 4.

If approved, the coffee shop would be the only Dunkin’ location in the city of St. Louis, according to the chain’s website. It has about a dozen locations in St. Louis County, and sites in Troy, Illinois; St. Charles County; and Jefferson County.

Another drive-thru coffee shop is planned at a site less than a mile from where Dunkin’ Donuts wants to build. Scooter’s Coffee plans a location at the intersection of Kingshighway and Christy Boulevard.
