WILDWOOD, Mo. — Benedetto's On Main, a family-owned Italian restaurant at 16721 Main St. in Wildwood, has permanently shuttered.

“Our decision to close was not made lightly,” its owners wrote in a Facebook post announcing the closure on Monday. “For the past several years we have struggled with rising food costs, an unsettling economic climate as well as continued staffing challenges. These challenges have added to our already busy lives.”

The owners could not immediately be reached for comment.

The restaurant underwent a "kitchen staff overhaul" in May last year, culminating in a reworked menu, according to Facebook posts.

Rob Knoll and Kurt Kaemmerlen opened Benedetto's in March 2016, with Tony Buzzetta as general manager and his mother, Lia Buzzetta, as executive chef. The Buzzettas, who opened Buzzetta's Italian Cafe in Chesterfield last summer, are no longer involved with the Wildwood restaurant, Sauce Magazine previously reported.
