The Broadway Oyster Bar, a downtown staple for live music and seafood, has been sold.
Steven Sullivan, a former senior vice president and general counsel for Ameren Corp., acquired the business and property from husband-and-wife duo John and Victoria Johnson for an undisclosed price. Research from real estate data firm Reonomy shows the property, 736 S. Broadway, sold for $1.72 million.
"I have always admired BOB, but through the diligence process I fell in love with it," Sullivan told the Business Journal. "The owners, the employees, the food, the music and even our building have made BOB the iconic landmark that it is."
He intends to keep the restaurant the way St. Louisans love it, stating he's "not going to mess with success." John Johnson will stay on for at least two years to help with the transition, he added.
