ST. LOUIS — Two former Riverfront Times staffers, including leader Sarah Fenske, are joining St. Louis Magazine after the alternative weekly was sold and laid off its staff.

St. Louis Magazine said Monday that it would this summer launch a daily newsletter, called St. Louis Daily, "with insights and analysis from" Fenske and former RFT reporter Ryan Krull.

“The launch of St. Louis Daily is part of SLM’s ongoing commitment to community journalism,” St. Louis Magazine Publisher/Editor-in-Chief Jarrett Medlin said. The publication added that Fenske would oversee the newsletter and a forthcoming podcast.

St. Louis Magazine is owned by SLM Media Group, tied to Matt Coen. Ray Hartmann sold his stake in the business in 2019.

Big Lou Media, led by CEO Chris Keating, last month sold the Riverfront Times, and the new owner opted not to retain its staff. Big Lou's other publications, which include Sauce Magazine, are continuing to operate.
