MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — Basketball usually takes center stage in March, but hockey is in the spotlight this month in St. Louis.
Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights in March is hosting two major collegiate hockey events, as well as other competitions expected to bring record crowds to the venue. The St. Louis Blues are also playing eight home games this month, with six more to be played at Enterprise Center as the NHL enters the final month of its regular season.
“This is kind of our hockey version of March Madness,” said St. Louis Sports Commission President Marc Schreiber. “It’s great that this region has carved out a really nice niche in the sport and you’re seeing it bear out this month by having so much hockey activity in the region, especially at the Centene Community Ice Center.”
