Shuttered hotel that's visible from I-44 to be demolished

The hotel operated for nearly 50 years as a distinctive independent hotel, bar and event space.

ST. LOUIS — A former hotel with a prominent location along Interstate 44 will soon be demolished.

The Stratford Inn operated for nearly 50 years as a distinctive independent hotel, bar and event space at 800 S. Highway Drive, facing Interstate 44 in Fenton, before closing permanently in 2018. It's now slated for demolition over the next several months, according to a letter from Fenton Mayor Joe Maurath in the latest city newsletter.

The owner of the property, an entity called Infinity Hospitality LLC that was organized by Vinod Patel of Woodson Terrace according to state records, commissioned Spirtas Wrecking Co. to demolish the former hotel, Maurath said in the newsletter.

The demolition process should begin “soon” and should finish by mid-March, “thereby eliminating a health and safety issue,” the mayor said.
