ST. LOUIS — Aramark janitors at the Anheuser-Busch brewery and corporate center in St. Louis have won their battle for union representation, but it won’t be directly with Aramark.
Aramark (NYSE: ARMK), a provider of facility and food services, will remain nonunion in St. Louis, but will subcontract janitorial services to a union contractor, Clean-Tech, Service Employees International Union Local 1 announced Wednesday.
The union said the arrangement is intended to avoid a prolonged labor dispute.
“My colleagues and I are excited about these recent developments and we look forward to working with SEIU Local 1 and with Clean-Tech in the near future to ensure we receive the pay, benefits and respect we deserve,” Aaron Umstead, a janitor at the A-B brewery and corporate center, said in a statement.
