MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — A St. Louis County judge on Monday granted a temporary restraining order against the city of Maryland Heights, ordering the government not to violate the terms of its lease with the operator of a youth sports complex.
A hearing on a preliminary injunction is set for Nov. 20 before Judge Ellen Ribaudo.
The case was initiated Oct. 24 by HSL Sports LLC, tied to Jeffrey Fox. It leases the 63-acre Sportport, which has some 12 playing fields at 12525 Sportport Road, from Maryland Heights. The 25-year lease was entered in 2014.
HSL said that Kansas City-based NorthPoint Development, which has significant industrial holdings in the St. Louis area, wanted easement rights through the southwest frontage of Sportport, in order to allow for the passage of construction equipment that would be used to build a five-warehouse, 1.9 million-square-foot industrial development called 364 Logistics Center.
