ST. LOUIS — Kitty Ratcliffe will exit tourism and convention agency Explore St. Louis before her contract ends, the organization said Tuesday, bringing to a close a long tenure that brought her numerous industry awards, but also criticism over the politically divisive and delayed expansion of the downtown convention center.
Explore's board, which met Thursday to weigh such a move, and Ratcliffe said she would retire from the organization on Aug. 31, and that the board will shortly begin a search process to find her successor. Ratcliffe's contract had been scheduled to expire in June 2025; an Explore spokesman said that "in recognition of her nearly two decades of service," Explore will honor the terms of her contract.
