Maryville University president to retire at end of school year

During he took the helm at Maryville U in 2007, it has grown from 3,000 students to more than 9,000 students, according to the announcement.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Mark Lombardi, who has served as president of Maryville University since 2007, announced Monday that he plans to retire.

Lombardi, the 10th president to hold the post in the university's history, plans to retire at the end of the coming academic year, in June 2025, according to a news release.

During he took the helm at Maryville U in 2007, it has grown from 3,000 students to more than 9,000 students hailing from 50 states and 60 countries, according to the release.

A search committee has been formed, to be led by Chris Chadwick, an alumni and vice chair of Maryville's board of trustees, with the search to "begin shortly," officials said.

“It is the singular honor of my life to have led Maryville to national prominence. Now it is time for a 21st century leader who will build on our revolution," Lombardi said in the release. "Maryville will lead the quest to empower tens of thousands of students to become the first college graduates in their families."
