CREVE COEUR, Mo. — Taziki's Mediterranean Café, a fast-casual restaurant chain, has opened its first St. Louis-area location, which also is its first in Missouri, and recently signed a lease for its next site here.

The Birmingham, Alabama-based chain opened the store July 2 at 12704 Olive Blvd. in Bellerive Plaza in Creve Coeur. The restaurant, which is corporate-owned, is run by Scott Bonner, a locally-based company operating partner, officials said.

Taziki's Mediterranean Café is known for its Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, which includes gyros, sandwiches and salads. About 30 people were hired to work at the new location, a spokesperson said.

Officials didn't respond to a request for information on costs for the new location's buildout. The 2,600-square-foot Bellerive Plaza location, which previously held a Crazy Bowls and Wraps restaurant, seats about 53 inside and 16 outside on a patio, according to a spokesperson for Spiegelglass Construction Co., which worked on the project.
