ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. — MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in St. Clair County, Illinois, is getting a new nonstop flight.
Allegiant Air (Nasdaq: ALGT) said Tuesday that beginning May 23, it would fly from MidAmerica to Gulf Shores International Airport in Alabama. Allegiant's schedule shows the seasonal flight running twice a week until Sept. 1 next year.
The Allegiant announcement was for 44 new nonstop routes, including 11 to three new cities: Gulf Shores; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Columbia, South Carolina. The airline is based in Las Vegas.
"These additions reflect our ongoing commitment to meet customer demand," Allegiant Chief Commercial Officer Drew Wells said in a statement.
MidAmerica's only airline is Allegiant. Its destinations from the airport, some of which are seasonal, are to Destin, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Knoxville, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Orlando, Punta Gorda, Sarasota, Savannah and St. Petersburg.
