COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri said Monday it has already sold out of its allotment of tickets for the upcoming Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, less than a day after being selected for the college football bowl game.
Mizzou said its share of 13,000 tickets for the Cotton Bowl sold out in under 18 hours. Mizzou will face Ohio State in the Dec. 29 Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas.
Mizzou’s selection to the Cotton Bowl gives it a spot in one of college football’s most prominent postseason Bowl Games, while also generating millions for the Southeastern Conference (SEC), of which Mizzou is a member. Mizzou’s coaches will also cash in from the game, thanks to bonuses in their contracts.
The Cotton Bowl is part of college football’s “New Year’s Six” bowl games, which also includes the Rose Bowl, Peach Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and Sugar Bowl.
