COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri-Columbia said Monday it has received a $62 million commitment for renovations to Memorial Stadium and an athletic department fund that benefits student-athletes.

A donor, whom the university says wishes to remain anonymous, designated $50 million for improvements to the football team's home, including redevelopment of a north concourse and other upgrades. Another $12 million will go to the so-called Tiger Fund, which pays for athlete travel, equipment, marketing programs and mental performance coaching, according to the school.

Mizzou said the new gift more than doubles the Athletics Department's previous record gift, coming in 2012.

Mizzou said that the University of Missouri's board of curators in November passed a resolution authorizing the athletics department to initiate plans to upgrade Memorial Stadium, including by bringing new premium seating and an open-air, mixed-use development along the north concourse "that could produce modernized year-round revenue opportunities."
