UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. — A new dining option is open in University City’s Market on Olive development.
Chipotle Mexican Grill on Tuesday opened its newest store, at 8650 Olive Blvd. Located near Olive Boulevard and Interstate 170, the store will feature what the company called a Chipotlane, a drive-thru pickup lane that allows guests to pick up digital orders without leaving their cars.
The new location marks the first Chipotlane in the University City area.
Chipotlanes — which are not drive-thrus, as they have no speakers or menu boards since users have previously ordered and paid online or through the Chipotle app — are becoming increasingly popular.
Chief Executive Brian Niccol during the company’s 4Q22 earnings call on Feb. 9 said that of the 236 restaurants Chipotle opened in 2022, all but 34 of them had Chipotlanes. Of the new restaurants the company plans to open in 2023, more than 80% will include Chipotlanes.
