Nomad has shared space with Tamm Avenue Bar since February 2020.

ST. LOUIS — Nomad, a restaurant in Dogtown known for its pastrami sandwiches and burgers, has closed, but its owner has plans to open another restaurant.

The last day in operation for the restaurant, 1227 Tamm Ave. in St. Louis, was Sunday, the owner posted Monday on Instagram. Nomad had opened at the location in February 2020, then shuttered with the onset of the pandemic and reopened in May 2020.

"I want to make it clear that Nomad was a successful restaurant. We are not closing because of anything financial," its owner and chef, Tommy Andrew, said in Monday's post. "It’s been a great five years serving Dogtown in St. Louis."

Andrew, whose resume includes stints at now-shuttered local restaurants Monarch, Randolfi’s Italian Kitchen and Cinder House, plans to eventually open his own eatery with a bar and much larger kitchen, he told St. Louis Magazine on Monday.
