ST. LOUIS — Patty Upchurch founded Patty’s Cheesecakes in 2013 and continues to serve as its head baker, baking and selling its artisanal cheesecake desserts.
The company, which operates a food stall at the City Foundry STL and sells its cheesecakes in Dierbergs Markets and Fresh Thyme Market grocery stores, has its sights set on further expansion in 2024.
Patty’s Cheesecakes this year plans to expand its wholesale business and is in talks with supermarket chains and restaurants about carrying the company’s products, Upchurch said. The company, which ships its desserts locally and caters for events, plans to start shipping nationwide.
Patty’s signed a lease for a new production bakery, Upchurch said. The 2,000-square-foot space is four times the size of her food stall at City Foundry and will allow for the company to quadruple its capacity.
Her biggest goal is to open a second location, marking the company’s first stand-alone, brick-and-mortar retail store.
