ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — The owner of the Plaza Frontenac mall is seeking to evict the longtime movie theater there.
An entity tied to New York-based Brookfield Properties, which owns the mall at 1701 S. Lindbergh Blvd. on Nov. 20 sued a theater entity, Silver Cinemas Acquisition Co., in St. Louis County Circuit Court.
It says Plaza Frontenac Cinema, run by Los Angeles-based Landmark Theatres, owes $274,000 in back rent.
The suit seeks possession of the premises, located on the second floor of the mall near Saks Fifth Avenue.
Brookfield and Landmark didn't immediately respond to requests for comment. The Brookfield entity is represented by Columbia, Missouri, attorney Jeffrey Parshall.
The theater chain, which specializes in showing independent movies, now has only the Frontenac location in the St. Louis area.
It previously ran the Tivoli Theatre in the Delmar Loop and Hi-Pointe Theatre.
