KIRKWOOD, Mo. — Hungry Joe’s has permanently closed its Schnucks food hall takeout concept, located in the grocer’s Kirkwood store at 10233 Manchester Road.
“With the high costs of running a restaurant it is not sustainable anymore for a small operation without a huge following,” owners Lisa Nicholas and Joe Kandel said Wednesday in a statement on the restaurant’s website. “We feel we gave everything we had offering very good food and customer service but in the long run it was not enough.”
The restaurant’s last day of operations was Monday, a Schnucks spokeswoman said. "We are currently working to fill the space with a new tenant to serve our customers," she added.
