ST. LOUIS — Sam Fox, former U.S. ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and founder and retired chairman and CEO of Harbour Group Ltd., as well as a major St. Louis philanthropist, died Monday at age 95.
Fox found major success with the Harbour Group, a holding company that buys manufacturing, distribution and specialty services companies. The Clayton firm had 2023 revenue of $1.3 billion.
Fox grew up in Desloge, Missouri, and sought out entrepreneurial opportunities as he made his way through school, according to a biography from the Horatio Alger Association, which honored him with an award in 2005.
