ST. LOUIS — Schnuck Markets, the St. Louis-based grocery chain, has rolled out new electronic shelf-label software that's meant to improve order accuracy for Instacart shoppers.
The grocer and Instacart, the San Francisco-based grocery delivery and tech company, said that Instacart's Carrot Tags software is being connected to electronic shelf labels at most Schnucks stores.
Carrot Tags' “pick-to-light” feature allows “Instacart shoppers to activate items from their picking list within the Instacart Shopper App for easier and more accurate order fulfillment,” the companies said.
Schnucks began offering grocery delivery through Instacart in 2017. The grocer piloted Instacart's digital price tag software in 2022, and began using the pick-to-light feature in 2023, according to the release. Schnucks began using Instacart's "smart" shopping carts, called Caper Carts, in three stores in March. The grocer said at the time that it planned to pilot the AI-powered carts for about six months before deciding whether to expand them to additional stores.
