Only one St. Louis venue has ever hosted a Stanley Cup Final: the long departed St. Louis Arena hosted the series three straight years from 1968 to 1970.
That distinction will end on Saturday, when the Enterprise Center and St. Louis Blues host the Boston Bruins in game three of this year's Stanley Cup Final. (Tune in tonight for game 2 in Boston.)
It's a noteworthy event in the history of the venue, which began its life in 1994 as the Kiel Center, and traded names two more times (Savvis Center, Scottrade Center) before Enterprise Holdings added its brand to the stadium last year.
Business Journal photographer Dilip Vishwanat hung out behind the scenes Tuesday as the Enterprise Center crew and outside contractors readied the venue for Saturday's game.
As his photos show, this wasn't all about cosmetic details. The venue, which last year completed a $42 million renovation, underwent a few more temporary transformations this week to account for a significantly larger corps of traveling media, among other visitors.
Then on Saturday, stay tuned to see if Enterprise Center can earn a new distinction all its own: The first St. Louis venue to win a Stanley Cup game.
