COOL VALLEY, Mo. — The nonprofit Society of St. Vincent de Paul of St. Louis announced last week that it has closed its Cool Valley location, at 1225 S. Florissant Road, and eliminated several jobs as it deals with financial issues.

In a July 9 email, the nonprofit organization said its board of directors approved the closing of its Cool Valley Thrift Outlet and Processing Center "to help ensure financial stability and liquidity." The store sold clothing by the pound as well as housewares, furniture and other goods.

The email was signed by John Foppe, executive director of Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Archdiocesan Council of St. Louis, and Council President Carole Johnson.

The organization also said that it had eliminated four positions in its local council office: Marketing Specialist Luke Lindberg, Manager of Vincentian Data John Doyl, Manager of Conference Growth and Revitalization Tom Matoushek and Receptionist Judi Webb.
