ST. LOUIS — St. Louis brewery Earthbound Beer is shutting down, with plans to close its Cherokee Street taproom and end distribution by year’s end.
Earthbound’s taproom at 2724 Cherokee St. will close Dec. 8 and the brewer’s distribution will stop this quarter, Earthbound said Monday in a social media post. Earthbound opened in November 2014, initially operating from a 1,000-square-foot storefront at 2710 Cherokee before moving to its current location.
“We opened with very little capital and the idea that we would run Earthbound as an experiment in nanobrewing, a relatively new concept in 2014,” said Stuart Keating, president of beer, in the brewery’s social media post. “The experiment has run its course."
Earthbound in 2022 produced 355 barrels of beer, down from 600 barrels in 2018, according to Business Journal research. The brewery declined to provide 2023 figures for this year's Business Journal list of St. Louis' largest breweries.
