ST. LOUIS — The city of St. Louis is poised to strike a new 30-year deal with a nonprofit that aids in improving and maintaining Forest Park.

City aldermen earlier this month passed legislation creating the new deal with Forest Park Forever, which has aided in park preservation and development for some 40 years. The parties' current deal, which dates to 2011, is to expire when more than a decade-old bonds used to fund park improvements and paid using dedicated park revenues, including two taxes, are retired, likely in February 2026.

The new agreement would see Forest Park Forever and the city work together for 20 years after that, with two five-year renewals possible.

The bill sits on Mayor Tishaura Jones' desk. Her spokesman said she intends to sign the bill.
