ST. LOUIS — The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis said this week that a fundraising campaign launched last fall "met expectations," and it will complete its shortened 2023-24 season.
The theater had announced in October that it was "streamlining" its lineup this season, as it faced a projected $2.5 million budget shortfall. The Rep cancelled two productions, switched to a less lavish holiday production and said the two productions scheduled for the second half of its season were in doubt if it didn't raise $2.5 million by the end of 2023.
The Rep said in a release Tuesday that it would go ahead with its final production of the season, "August: Osage County," after what it called "phase I of its multi-year" fundraising campaign "met expectations." The organization didn't indicate when or if it raised the entire $2.5 million in the "Rally for the Rep" campaign, which was to wrap up in December.
