ST. LOUIS — The state of Missouri has listed the Wainwright State Office Building for sale as it moves forward with plans to relocate 400 workers from the historic downtown building.
The Wainwright building is being offered for sale through an auction on government surplus auction website GovDeals, with bidding starting at $5 million. The sale will include the 234,600-square-foot building and “all its contents,” the listing says.
The listing comes after Missouri’s Board of Public Buildings on July 2 approved resolutions to sell the Wainwright building, at 111 N. 7th St. and the Mill Creek State Office Building at 220 S. Jefferson Ave. Workers from the two buildings, which house about 600 employees combined in offices for several state agencies, are slated to be relocated to a new site in Chesterfield. A contingent of employees will remain in the city, moving to the Michael N. Keathley State Office Building at 3101 Chouteau Ave.
