ST. LOUIS — One of St. Louis’ favorite museums is branching out from its flagship location in Kirkwood.
The Magic House will open its satellite location, created in partnership with the Cortex Innovation Community and MADE STL, on Delmar Boulevard in the city Friday.
Called The Magic House @ MADE, it features a markerspace, multimedia art studio, design lab and entrepreneurs marketplace. According to a release, children will be able to have hands-on STEAM experiences such as designing for 3D printers and learning to code. Other programs will teach children how to build a robot and launch a business.
“The Magic House @ MADE will provide elementary and middle school students with tools to foster their creativity and ignite a lifelong spirit of innovation” said Beth Fitzgerald, president of The Magic House.
Cortex contributed $500,000 to the project for equipment, exhibits and operation. In addition, the Ameren Corp. Charitable Trust contributed $150,000. Other funding came from Blueprint4SummerSTL, Cardinals Care, MasterCard, St. Louis Children’s Hospital Foundation, The Dana Brown Charitable Trust, U.S. Bank, Trustee and the William T. Kemper Foundation.
Located at 5127 Delmar, The Magic House @ MADE has admission for $5 per person over the age of 1. Parking is free.
