The Muny has unveiled recent updates to its state-of-the-art stage, light bridge, stage towers and circulation system ahead of its 101st season in Forest Park. The updates are part of a $100 million capital campaign The Muny announced last May.
The rebuild of The Muny stage addressed critical structural needs and allows the organization to utilize stage technology, officials previously said.
The revamp of the stage includes versatile stage decking, improved lighting capabilities, increased air flow from blowers and a more protected orchestra pit. The light bridge and the supporting towers that flank the stage presented the most pressing need, officials said, and their replacement was completed in conjunction with the rebuilding of the stage.
In addition to completing the first phase of construction, The Muny said it has raised $72 million of its $100 million capital campaign. The funds raised also will assist with maintenance and upkeep of the 11.5-acre campus, as well as the theater's endowment, officials said.
"This campaign would not be possible without the generous support of countless Muny-goers," President and CEO Denny Reagan said in a statement. "We are truly humbled and thankful and look forward to completing this campaign with St. Louis by our side."
The Muny had attendance of more than 400,000 during its 2018 season. The 2019 season begins June 10.
