EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Two restaurants located in Edwardsville have closed their doors.

Wang Gang, a casual Pan-Asian restaurant that opened in 2009, and Chappy's, a hamburger restaurant that opened in 2022, are both located in a strip mall on Century Drive in Edwardsville. Both announced the closure on their websites Monday morning.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, Wang Gang is now closed," the post said. "Thank you for the 14+ years of support and patronage that has allowed us to be a bigger part of the community."

Ryan O'Day owns both restaurants, according to a report from The Edwardsville Intelligencer. The report said that O'Day in 2023 was indicted by a Madison County grand jury on theft of government funds, sales tax evasion, and six counts of filing a fraudulent sales and use tax return.

O'Day did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
