ST. LOUIS — St. Louis police officers need help naming two suspects who allegedly robbed a man in Soulard early Saturday morning.
According to police, the victim was approached by one of the suspects in the 2300 block of South 12 Street. The suspect asked for the time, and the victim obliged.
That's when one of the suspects ran toward the victim, pulled out a gun and announced a robbery, police said.
The robbery happened minutes after midnight, a brief report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.
That suspect took the victim's wallet and cell phone before running east on Shenandoah Avenue. He then climbed into an older model SUV, which also escaped eastward on Shenandoah.
Detectives with SLMPD's Third District are investigating the case and need help naming and finding the suspects. They are also looking for the vehicle used in the crime, which investigators said was an older model box-style SUV.
"Anyone with a tip who wants to remain anonymous and is interested in a possible reward for their tip can contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477)," police said. "Citizens can also call a detective at 314-444-2500. Be advised, tips submitted directly to detectives are not eligible for CrimeStoppers rewards."
SLMPD investigators are classifying this crime as a first-degree robbery.
