1 dead; car crashes on I-170, rolls, lands on Olive

The car rolled over and landed in the eastbound lanes of Olive Boulevard, blocking traffic, a MSHP spokesperson said.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A woman driving on Interstate Highway 170 died early Saturday morning after her car crashed at Olive Boulevard, according to a brief statement from Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C's spokesperson.

18-year-old Edith Palaez Escobar was driving in the southbound on I-170 when it crashed. The spokesperson said the car rolled over and landed in the eastbound lanes of Olive Boulevard, blocking traffic.

According to a Missouri Department of Transportation webpage, the crash was reported around 3:12 a.m. MoDOT warned the closure of Olive Boulevard's eastbound lanes could take up to four hours to reopen and advised drivers to use an alternate route.

Officers with the University City and Olivette police departments responded to the scene. Olivette Fire Department crews were also at the scene.

Police shared no other information.
