Crash in downtown St. Louis leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

One person died at an area hospital, and two others were hospitalized.

ST. LOUIS — One person died and two others suffered injuries Thursday night in a two-car crash in downtown St. Louis.

The crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. at North Tucker Boulevard and Convention Plaza, just blocks away from The Dome at America's Center, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department

Police said a car was traveling eastbound on Convention Plaza when it collided with a pickup truck. The car rolled onto its roof after the collision, and a passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

The car's driver was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police later identified him as 59-year-old Antoine Foster of St. Louis.

The pickup driver, a 62-year-old man, and his passenger, a 32-year-old man, were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The department's Accident Reconstruction Unit was requested to the scene.

As of Friday morning, the deceased driver had not yet been identified.
