Cardinals expected to make $302 million economic impact this year

One way the Cardinals contribute to the region's economy is by being the 7th most valuable baseball team at a $1.8 billion value, according to the latest list from Forbes Magazine.

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Cardinals will be kicking off another season of baseball at their opening game April 5 with an estimated regional economic impact of $302 million, according to Explore St. Louis.

One way the Cardinals contribute to the region’s economy is by being the 7th most valuable baseball team at a $1.8 billion value, according to the latest list from Forbes Magazine.

The Cardinals are projected to attract 3 million fans who will generate an estimated $160.4 million direct economic impact and a $141.9 million indirect economic impact, according to Ruth Sergenian, St. Louis Regional Camber’s director of economic research.

The direct, indirect and total economic impact figures are based on estimates of visitor spending and operations at Busch Stadium.
