FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. — A St. Louis-area teenager drowned in Madison County, Mo., Wednesday afternoon, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Around 1:45 p.m., 19-year-old Cole Duffel was at an offset quarry near Fredericktown, about 90 miles south of St. Louis.
According to the Highway Patrol, Duffel jumped off an embankment, came up once and went back under; he did not resurface.
Just a few hours after Duffel drowned, a 13-year-old boy from Geneso, Ill., drowned after jumping off of an anchored boat in the Lake of the Ozarks.
