9-year-old boy struck, killed in O'Fallon, Missouri

O'Fallon police are asking for anyone who might have surveillance video from the incident or may have witnessed it to contact them with information.

O'FALLON, Mo. — A 9-year-old boy was struck and killed in O'Fallon, Missouri, Friday morning. 

The O'Fallon Police Department said officers responded around 11:45 a.m. to the intersection of Harmony Lane and Vine Street for a child who had been struck by a vehicle. 

Officers located the child in the street and EMS transported him to an area hospital, where he later died of his injuries, police said. 

Police said the 19-year-old driver from St. Louis County remained on scene and is being cooperative with the investigation. 

O'Fallon police are asking for anyone who might have surveillance video from the incident or may have witnessed it to contact them with information. 

The O'Fallon Police Department released the following statement regarding the incident: 

"The O’Fallon Police Department would like to extend or sincerest condolences to the family of the juvenile victim. We are committed to taking action to prevent any future incidents through education and enforcement. Traffic and pedestrian safety are top priorities of the O’Fallon Police Department, and we urge all residents to use caution and be on the lookout for pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and other motorists when operating a vehicle."

No further information regarding the incident was available. The investigation is ongoing.
