Popular gym removes all 1st Phorm products after CEO's comments about female officers

"As a company, we have always stood by our first responders," a Club Fitness spokesperson said in part.

ST. LOUIS — Club Fitness said on Tuesday it has removed all 1st Phorm products from its retail offerings following the CEO's viral comments about women in law enforcement.

Andy Frisella is the co-founder of 1st Phorm, a St. Louis supplement and fitness company. Frisella made derogatory comments on his podcast episode that came out on National Police Women's Day.

He has since deleted the episode of the ‘Real AF’ podcast and tried to walk back his comments.

"As a company, we have always stood by our first responders," a Club Fitness spokesperson said in part.

Club Fitness offers an initiative, PRIME Program, which provides a complimentary six-month membership to all police and fire academy recruits during their training, the spokesperson said.

There are 19 Club Fitness locations in the St. Louis area.

Both the St. Louis County and St. Louis Metropolitan police departments released statements condemning Frisella's comments and officially severed all ties to Frisella and 1st Phorm.

The Ferguson Police Department joined St. Louis and County police in pushing back against those comments, which Chief Troy Doyle said degrade the bravery and sacrifice of officers.

At the Ferguson Police Department, roughly one in four officers are female.

“It’s very clear that throughout the Ferguson Police Department, the input of women and their impact is phenomenal,” the department's spokesperson Patricia Washington said.

5 On Your Side contacted 1st Phorm and Frisella for comment but have yet to hear back.
