ST. CHARLES COUNTY-- An ambulance station that has been closed for more than a year has now reopened after voters approved a tax increase.
The Cottleville station near St. Charles Community College on Weiss Road closed last year because of staff shortages due to budget shortfalls.
In April, voters approved a property tax increase of 11 cents on every $100 of property value. The additional funding allows the station to be staffed 24 hours a day.
The St. Charles County Ambulance District covers all 585 square miles of the county.
