FERGUSON, Mo. — A young girl was injured early Wednesday morning in a crash in Ferguson.
The crash involving one vehicle happened at about 2 a.m. Wednesday just outside of Cotton Branch Mortuary and Cremation Services on North Florissant Road. The car was believed to be street racing,
A 2018 Hyundai Tucson was traveling northbound on North Florissant Road before traveling off the right side of the roadway and struck a trash can and a utility pole, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
A passenger, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was ejected in the crash. According to MSHP, the passenger, a girl between 12 and 14 years old, was critically injured. She was taken to an area children's hospital.
The driver fled the scene before first responders arrived, according to MSHP.
