ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal two-vehicle crash that left one person dead Thursday afternoon. The highway was temporarily shut down on Thanksgiving Day.

Cpl. Dallas Thompson with the MSHP said a fatal two-vehicle crash happened southbound on Missouri Highway 141 at the intersection of Interstate 64 headed westbound onto a ramp.

Victor Hezel, 93, was driving a GMC Sierra southbound on 141. The investigation revealed he failed to stop at a red light, striking a Ford Escape that was turning left with a green arrow.

Hezel was taken to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Ford Escape had minor injuries.

All lanes of southbound MO-141 north of I-64 were shut down and the left two turn lanes to go westbound on I-64 from northbound MO-141 were closed, according to Thompson.
