CREVE COEUR, Mo. — A beautiful blue sky, lots of sunshine made for a picture perfect fun time for so many people at Millennium Park in Creve Coeur Thursday.
"It's like so cool and I love it," said 13-year-old Regina Gil.
"It's just so wonderful," said eighth-grader Quiniya Jones.
After months of construction and waiting, kids of all ages enjoyed every minute of the popular park's grand reopening.
They and their parents packed the place at 2 Barnes West Drive to see the park's new, bigger playground.
Regina Gil and her cousins enjoyed every spin on the unique merry-go-round.
"Yeah, we're having a blast. The park is like really big, so I love like running around and going in the water. It's really fun," said Gil.
"I like the new stuff here. I really like the jungle gym," said Quiniya Jones.
"I'm really excited about today," said Creve Coeur Mayor Robert Hoffman.
Hoffman couldn't wait to show 5 On Your Side the city's $2.5 million makeover.
The park's spruced up playground is designed with all little ones in mind.
"We have swings for disabled children. The parent can actually sit on swings facing the children, which makes for a good event for the child," Hoffman added.
Parents and their children also danced, ate lots of good food and cooled down on lots of ice cream and cold drinks.
On a hot, 90-degree-plus day like Thursday, you bet the new, expanded splash pad was definitely the most popular place to be.
"I think the splash dash is super fun, " said one girl.
"Like everybody can go in the water and have a good time," said another girl,
"It's so fun. I'm all wet," chuckled a boy who kept splashing in the fountains.
"It's nice to se it actually come to fruition," said Kaitline Lehde, who was there with her four-year-old son, Gideon.
"It's hot out here, but I'm having a good time," said Quiniya Jones.
