FESTUS, Mo. — A 3-year-old boy was killed and three others - including a 1-year-old boy - were seriously injured in a crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 55 in Jefferson County.
According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday, a Kia Forte was traveling northbound on I-55 near State Road AA when the car struck an object or a vehicle in the road, causing the car to travel off the east side of the roadway and strike a tree.
A 3-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to MSHP. A 1-year-old boy, a 23-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man who was driving the car were seriously injured. All were from Memphis, Tennessee.
The 1-year-old boy was airlifted and the adults were taken via ambulance to area hospitals, according to MSHP.
