Driver killed in high-speed I-55 crash after failing to move over for emergency vehicle

The driver was speeding down I-55 before he lost control of the car, traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned, according to MSHP.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A man died in a crash early Wednesday morning on Interstate 55 after failing to move over for an emergency vehicle, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just after midnight Wednesday on I-55 South near the South Lindbergh Boulevard exit, according to MSHP. The driver was speeding down I-55 after failing to yield to a St. Louis County police officer before losing control of the car, traveling off the left side of the roadway and overturning.

The driver, identified as 21-year-old Lucas Menz of St. Louis, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to MSHP.
