BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Peach season has arrived early at Eckert's Farm and Country Store in Belleville.
According to the family-owned farm, a rainy spring season made the peach crop ripen a few weeks earlier than expected.
The peaches available for picking are of the Red Haven peach variety for 2.99 a pound, plus field access passes starting at $4 on weekdays and $7 on weekends.

Guest can also purchase the farm-grown peaches at Eckert's Country Store. The peaches are available in half-and full-peck containers or loose for $3.49 per pound.
As a part of the Sip, Shop, and Support Series, a portion of the Pick-Your-Own Peaches proceeds will be donated to the Belleville District #118 Foundation to support the local school district's needs, the farm said. There will be change jars out at the registers for "round up" donations and donate $1 for every pint of Peach Hard Cider sold in the Cider shed from July 1-31. On July 19, 10% of the Pick-Your-Own Peaches sales on July 19.
“We have received a lot of excitement for Pick-Your-Own Peach Season with the produce ripening earlier than normal,” says Chris Eckert, President of Eckert’s Inc. “Due to all of the rain this spring, our peaches are larger than usual, making it a great selection of pickings this season and we are thrilled to support the Belleville School District and help bring a quality education to children. We also have a lineup of special events at the farm this month that we hope will make our guests' experiences better than ever like our Orchard Date Night in the peach orchards.”
