EAST ALTON, Ill. — A 29-year-old man was hit and killed by an Amtrak train early Wednesday morning, the East Alton Police Department said.
The man, identified as Ronrecco Taylor, was hit by a southbound train on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, investigators said.
The death appears to be accidental and is being investigated by the department with assistance from the Madison County Coroner's Office. Amtrak and Union Pacific Railroad are cooperating with the investigation.
