EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — An East St. Louis woman tells 5 On Your Side she's thankful to be alive after her home caught fire early Friday morning in East St. Louis.
The fire began in a vacant home next door before spreading to the woman's home. The woman couldn't walk and was only able to escape thanks to her daughter.
The fire began around 4:30 a.m. near N 22nd Street and Henrietta Avenue.
